Record Rainfall
"The big weather story in Fairbanks this May was the wet conditions throughout the month. The monthly total precipitation was 2.01 inches, over three times the normal total, which breaks the previous record of 1.75 inches set in 1944. Rainfall was recorded on 15 days of the month, double the average number. Along with the precipitation was warmer than normal temperatures. The average for the month of 52.2 degrees F was 3.4 degrees above normal. The low temperature for the month was 31 degrees F on the 8th, the only day with a low below freezing, and the high was on the 30th at 73 degrees F." Quoted from the Alaska Climate Research Center.
